The Bright Side at Lincoln Lights image

The Bright Side at Lincoln Lights

We invited visitors to see hidden corners of Lincoln city centre shining bright with messages of joy and hope. The Bright Side illuminated secret spaces from Cornhill to Steep Hill with messages of positivity from the local community as we inspired each other to shake off the darkness of winter and celebrate together.

In advance of Lincoln Lights, residents of Lincoln shared their thoughts on what brings them joy and what gives them hope.

The Bright Side trail featured six projected messages onto the city’s architecture, located along the Lincoln Lights route from Cornhill to Steep Hill.

About The Bright Side at Lincoln Lights
  • Held at : Lincoln City Centre

  • From : 20 - 21 February 2025

  • Visitors : 30,000

A huge thank you to everyone who contributed their words of positivity to help Lincoln look on the Bright Side!

We invited residents to share their uplifting words of positivity with their community, their go-to phrase that lift spirits during tough times. We wanted to celebrate the power your words have to brighten someone else’s day!

We created a trail of 6 artworks shining bright around the city featuring the following phrases:

‘Sing loud, even if you are off key’

‘Let yourself take it slow Not all butterflies come out at the same time’

‘The blank slate of spring’

‘I got here too late for forever But I’ve found myself at home’ an excerpt from a poem by Jae Jenkins Scott

‘Let spring dawn like a blackbirds soft song’

A Gentle Unfolding into Spring  written by Tanya Akrofi in  collaboration with young people from The Network Crafternoon Group.

A gentle unfolding into Spring

Let spring dawn like a blackbird’s soft song.

And even though the daffodils and snowdrops don’t last for long,

If you should need to awaken gently from winter’s night,

To linger a little longer in cosy frost-edged delight,

Then there’s no need to rush or to race.

You’re allowed to blossom and bloom at your own pace

And when you’re ready, slowly open your window and see

How spring is all it promised to be
